In the months of April-
May June, 2016 Ryshivana conducted special programmes for various
sections of people.
Tertians intensive preparation:
A month long programme for the Tertians (i.e., those who are
preparing for their final vows) was conducted in Ryshivana from 1-30
May. It was attended by the both men and women religious. The
brothers were from the OMI and the Guanelian congregations. The
sisters were from the congregations of Sisters of St. Elizabeth,
Ursulines (OSU), Adoration Sisters (ASC) and the Good News Sisters.
Personal attention was given to each participant particularly with
the course on psycho-spiritual maturity. This course was conducted
by Dr. Fr. Praveen D’Souza, who is the director of the Emmaus
Counselling Centre at Mapusa, Goa. The teritans concluded their
programme with one day outing (“Mangalore Darshan”) organized by the
Institute.
Art of Contemplative Prayer
One of the unique programmes held during this summer (2016) was
a retreat on growth in prayer conducted by Fr. Alvito OCD. There
were 15 participants both religious and lay. It was a four week
programme in which the participants were guided step by step on the
art of contemplative prayer.
Be Merciful (Retreat)
Another special event during this summer was a retreat (June
19-25) on the theme of Mercy in order to celebrate the year of
Mercy. It was an eight day residential retreat participated by many
lay people from most of the southern states of India. On the first
day a general outline of the Papal Bull Mesericordiae Vultus was
presented and then every day two input sessions were given on the
biblical teaching on mercy with its psychological, spiritual and
liturgical implications.
