Summer Special in Ryshivana (April- June 2016)

In the months of April- May June, 2016 Ryshivana conducted special programmes for various sections of people.

Tertians intensive preparation:
A month long programme for the Tertians (i.e., those who are preparing for their final vows) was conducted in Ryshivana from 1-30 May. It was attended by the both men and women religious. The brothers were from the OMI and the Guanelian congregations. The sisters were from the congregations of Sisters of St. Elizabeth, Ursulines (OSU), Adoration Sisters (ASC) and the Good News Sisters. Personal attention was given to each participant particularly with the course on psycho-spiritual maturity. This course was conducted by Dr. Fr. Praveen D’Souza, who is the director of the Emmaus Counselling Centre at Mapusa, Goa. The teritans concluded their programme with one day outing (“Mangalore Darshan”) organized by the Institute.

Art of Contemplative Prayer
One of the unique programmes held during this summer (2016) was a retreat on growth in prayer conducted by Fr. Alvito OCD. There were 15 participants both religious and lay. It was a four week programme in which the participants were guided step by step on the art of contemplative prayer.

Be Merciful (Retreat)
Another special event during this summer was a retreat (June 19-25) on the theme of Mercy in order to celebrate the year of Mercy. It was an eight day residential retreat participated by many lay people from most of the southern states of India. On the first day a general outline of the Papal Bull Mesericordiae Vultus was presented and then every day two input sessions were given on the biblical teaching on mercy with its psychological, spiritual and liturgical implications.
